Robinhood Wants an AI Agent Trading Your Portfolio — And a Data Marketplace to Feed It

Robinhood is bringing AI trading agents directly into its app, paired with an "Agent Apps" marketplace of premium data from 11 providers — building on a developer program that's already logged 150,000 agentic accounts and 30 million tool calls a day.

Robinhood ($HOOD) announced that fully embedded AI trading agents, called Robinhood Agents, along with a companion "Agent Apps" data marketplace, are coming soon to eligible U.S. customers — a significant step beyond the third-party agent connections the company opened up in May.

How Robinhood Agents works

Setup takes about a minute: users name their agent, open a dedicated agentic account separate from their main brokerage account, and choose an AI model — OpenAI's GPT-6 Luna or GPT-6 Sol, or Anthropic's Opus 4.8. The agent can then research markets, build trading strategies, and place trades in stocks, options, and crypto within limits the user sets. Trade approval defaults to on, meaning the agent must ask before executing, though users can turn that safeguard off. Agents cannot use margin at launch and can only access funds sitting in their own dedicated account. Robinhood said agents run in isolated environments and that it has zero data-retention agreements with the AI labs behind the models.

A feature called Loops, coming soon, will let an agent repeat a set of instructions on a recurring basis until the user turns it off. Usage of GPT-6 Luna is free through the end of 2026 under a promotion with OpenAI; other models are billed at standard token rates. The more technical, developer-oriented path Robinhood opened in May — connecting external, self-hosted AI agents directly to a Robinhood account — remains available alongside the new embedded version.

Agent Apps: a data marketplace for your AI trader

Alongside Robinhood Agents, the company introduced Agent Apps, a marketplace of premium data feeds and specialized tools from third-party providers that an agent can subscribe to for sharper research and strategy-building.

The lineup spans options flow (Unusual Whales, SpotGamma), institutional-style market data (Nasdaq), government and lobbying activity (Quiver Quantitative), crypto fundamentals (Token Terminal), and more novel signals like satellite imagery (SkyFi) and weather data (Visual Crossing) aimed at commodity and travel-adjacent trades.

Why it matters. Robinhood says agents built through its May developer program already generate roughly 30 million tool calls a day from 150,000-plus accounts. Embedding the experience directly into the app and pairing it with a paid data marketplace is a bid to take that from a niche, technical audience to, in the company's own words, "millions" of everyday users — while also opening a new subscription revenue stream running through Robinhood's platform.
