What stood out
- Beats with raised outlooks. Flywire, Duolingo and Procore each paired a revenue beat against their own guidance or consensus with a higher or above-consensus forward view. Arista topped its August guide for revenue by about 10.8% and guided the fourth quarter to $3.9 billion to $4.0 billion.
- Guidance did the damage. Skyworks, QuidelOrtho, Lime and Phoenix Education all cut or lowered forward numbers. Freshworks grew revenue 14% but guided fourth-quarter operating income below the third quarter.
- Large caps barely moved. Amgen, Booking and Coupang each moved less than 2.5% despite headline items such as the FDA request on TAVNEOS and Booking's fourth-quarter room night guide of 1% to 3%.
- Travel and mobility. Avis reported 2% lower revenue and 8% lower adjusted EBITDA, while Lime cut its EBITDA outlook after a record revenue quarter.
