Cerebras Jumps 7% as Oracle Partners to Bring Wafer-Scale AI Inference to OCI in 2027
Oracle and Cerebras Systems announced a partnership to add Cerebras Inference to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for faster AI agents and reasoning, with availability planned for 2027 and no financial terms disclosed.
Oracle (ORCL) and Cerebras Systems (CBRS) announced a partnership on Tuesday to bring Cerebras' high-speed AI inference technology to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), aimed at faster AI agents, advanced reasoning and enterprise applications. Availability is planned for 2027. Cerebras shares were up 6.99%, or $7.58, at $115.95 as of 12:02 p.m. ET.
What the partnership covers
| Piece | Detail |
|---|---|
| AI infrastructure | Oracle plans to integrate Cerebras Inference into OCI, expanding its compute offerings for AI developers, enterprises and research labs |
| Technology | Cerebras' Wafer-Scale Engine combines computing and memory on a single large processor, reducing data movement and communication delays |
| Target workloads | Complex, multistep agentic AI workflows involving reasoning, verification and automated actions |
| Cloud expansion | Adds Cerebras technology to Oracle's existing AI infrastructure portfolio, including dedicated AI clusters |
| Availability | Planned for calendar year 2027 |
| Terms | Financial terms and deployment capacity were not disclosed |
Why agentic AI needs faster inference
Agentic AI workflows often involve many model calls in a row, such as reasoning, checking the result and then acting on it. Repeated calls can add up to significant delays. Cerebras aims to deliver ultrafast, predictable inference performance, which would mean quicker token generation and more responsive AI applications. The Wafer-Scale Engine combines computing and memory on a single large processor to reduce data movement and communication delays.
What it adds for Oracle
For Oracle, the partnership gives customers additional hardware choices alongside its existing AI infrastructure, including dedicated AI clusters. Oracle plans to offer Cerebras Inference to AI developers, enterprises and research labs.
What it means for investors
Cerebras shares were up about 7% at midday. Financial terms and deployment capacity were not disclosed, and availability is planned for 2027, so the announcement does not say how much business the partnership may bring.
